As you explore the Drox universe you will come across randomly generated races, some which haven't even reached the space age yet. If these races develop their technology enough and become influential enough in the galaxy they can emerge as a new playable race for the player to create ships with.

Emergence[]

For a race to emerge in the galaxy, they need to earn 5 'points'. It's discussed on the Soldak Forums Here.

They can earn points by:

  • 5 points for a military win and eliminating a space age race.
  • 2.5 Races for a diplomatic win.
  • 1.25 for other wins.
  • 2 points for showing up in an in-progress sector.
  • 0.5 points when they start in a sector.
  • -1 point if they are eliminated.

Ship Traits[]

The young races are assigned random traits, which can become ship traits once they are unlocked. This list was initially created by Darkness [PõePra2]

Each trait gives +5 starting points in their stat and +2 points per command point your ship has, also it will get a stat bonus based on it's main stat.

Also your ship will get two crew slots for that race, and remember you can put crew members in those extra component slots instead of components. Also remember that if the component says "Standard", like Standard Shield, you can't use variations, like Fast Regen Shields in that slot.
